Moose B. Hockey Shooter Academy
This off-ice clinic is designed to help you improve your game by isolating and working on your shots. At Shooter Academy you will be working one on one with the coach, and getting immediate feedback on your shots. This clinic is beneficial to all skill levels. Here are a few highlights of this clinic:
Participation Notes
To effectively participate in this clinic, players must have:
- A 2nd stick cut to proper dryland training length (between chin and collarbone when in shoes)
- A shooting area at home to work on skills between sessions (a tarp hung over rope will do)

- A commitment to shoot a minimum of 300 pucks between sessions
- A thick skin to take constructive criticism from Coach C and other participant(s)
3 Sessions
4.5 hrs/3 evaluations
Cost: $150
Session 1
- Shooter’s stick choice will be discussed (shaft, flex, lie etc.)
- Shooting basics will be explained and demonstrated
- Upper body wrist shot basics will be isolated and worked on one fundamental at a time
- Homework assigned
Session 2
- Mechanics of wrist shot reviewed and corrections made
- Accuracy, velocity and elevation of shots will be worked on
- Lower body mechanics added
- Snap and backhand shot will be introduced
- Homework assigned
Session 3
- Wrist shot fine tuned
- Snap, backhand and slap shot basics worked on
- Optional: time spent demonstrating and working on slap shot
- Final review and evaluation with homework assigned
2 Sessions
3 hrs/2 evaluations

Session 1
- The basics of the wrist shot will be demonstrated and worked on
- Shooting basics will be explained and demonstrated
- Wrist shot basics will be broken down one fundamental at a time
- Homeworkwill assigned
Session 2
- Mechanics of wrist shot reviewed and corrections made
- Accuracy, velocity and elevation of shots will be worked on
- Lower body mechanics added
- Snap and backhand shot will be introduced
- Final review, evaluation and homework will be assigned
1 Session
1.5 hrs/1 evaluation

- Both upper and lower body mechanics will be covered
