For his exceptional leadership and contrubution to the growth and development of women's hockey, coach Mike Curti was nominated and inducted into the WHAM Hall of Fame. His induction ceremony took place on Sunday, March 17th, 2013 at 11:30am at the Dakotah! Ice Center in Prior Lake, MN.
Excerpt from the WHAM nomination letter:
"For more than 10 years Mike Curti has provided various hockey opportunities for women through his Chicks with Sticks programs that introduce this great sport to women and girls of all ages and abilities. Curti’s participants range in age from 4 to over 60, and from beginners to high school and college players.
Mike Curti’s impact on WHAM is immeasurable. Through his clinics, he was instrumental in the creation of eight WHAM teams in the past six years. There are countless women in WHAM who have attended his clinics, leagues, and tournaments. Curti’s impact on their lives reflects his dedication and commitment to the sport of hockey and the founding principles of WHAM.
We, the undersigned, are proud to nominate Mike Curti, our coach, instructor, mentor, and friend for induction into the Women’s Hockey Association of Minnesota Hall of Fame."
The letter included nearly 70 signatures from women on various WHAM teams and from others whose lives have been forever enriched by coach Curti's contibutions to women's hockey.
